UDRI's Coatings, Corrosion, and Erosion group evaluates coatings and solves paint problems for government and industry. The group includes 17 professionals and is accredited to ISO 17025 and SAE AS 5505 for the application, testing, and performance characterization of organic coatings.


UDRI is also recognized by SAE AMS G8 Aerospace Organic Coatings Committee as an ISO 17025 lab qualified to perform coatings certification to AMS 3095A, Paint High Gloss For Airline Exterior System. 


The Coatings, Corrosion, and Erosion group’s largest customer is the US Air Force’s Coatings Corrosion and Erosion Laboratory (CCEL), located at Wright-Patterson AFB. The CCEL is the Air Force's central resource for aircraft coating systems and their applications. The state-of-the-art coatings application and testing facilities of the CCEL are available to UDRI’s industrial customers through Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs).
