The Aerospace Mechanics division conducts basic and applied research and provides engineering design, product improvement, and development services to government and industry. Areas of expertise include theoretical and computational solid mechanics, material modeling, mechanical system development, and vibrations; structural-mechanical testing for strength, durability, and performance; precision metrology and electronic system development; and foreign object damage, penetration mechanics, armor protection, hypervelocity impact, high strain rate materials characterization, and ballistics.
