Coatings and Corrosion Prevention Laboratory
The Coatings and Corrosion Prevention Laboratory on the University of Dayton campus is equipped to perform both routine and specialized evaluations of coatings and corrosion prevention compounds. This laboratory supports UDRI’s work on coatings and corrosion inhibitor development.
- A Gamry electrochemical measurement system with multiplexer can monitor up to eight different samples at a time. The coatings behavior and degradation can be studied using polarization and electrochemical impedance analysis.
- A Dualscope MP-20 instrument offers quick and nondestructive measurement of the thickness of coatings.
- A dip coater is an instrument used to apply sol-gel or polymer coatings to metal surfaces at a controlled rate. A spin coater produces uniform and nanometer-thick films on flat polished surfaces.
