Magnetic Materials Group

The Magnetic Materials group performs materials research, development, fabrication, processing, and characterization of high performance permanent magnets. High-performance nanocomposite rare earth magnets are currently under development. The work includes basic and applied research, analytical modeling, theoretical innovation and fundamental materials development. The research goal is to develop advanced magnetic materials that will improve the performance of generators, motors, actuators, and other electromagnetic devices. This group is an internationally-known leader in 2-17 high-temperature rare earth magnet materials and nanocomposite rare earth magnets.
