The Sealants and Elastomers group has a long history of involvement in the evaluation of elastomeric materials for application in current and future aircraft and missile weapon systems. We have developed and analyzed a wide variety of fuel tank sealants, fuel cell bladders, potting compounds, hydraulic packings and seals, hose materials, gaskets, and specialized elastomeric sheet materials. Over time we have developed a highly versatile laboratory that is available to determine the adequacy of sealants and seals for use in military applications. In this laboratory we routinely conduct qualification testing and failure analysis investigations.
