Sintered Nd-Fe-B Magnets with Improved Fracture Toughness
New sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets with improved fracture toughness have been successfully developed at UDRI. The improvement is as high as 75% as compared with conventional sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets. At such a high level of fracture toughness, some new sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets can be even cut or drilled by a lathe.
This work was conducted in UDRI’s Magnetic Materials group. To learn more, please contact Dr. Sam Liu.
