Electrical / Electronic Failure Analysis

We have been providing solutions to the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Materials Laboratory Systems Support Division for over 25 years.  We focus on identifying failure modes and mechanisms to determine the root cause of failure.  We have extensive experience in providing analysis and characterization of a variety of passive electrical components, printed wiring assemblies, solder joints, connectors, aircraft wiring, switches, and relays.  This capability also includes the characterization and analysis of active components such as diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, and hybrid circuits.

The Electronic Failure Analysis group works on-site in the Materials Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), providing failure analysis support since 1979. In our laboratory at WPAFB, we have available all of the equipment required to support a thorough failure analysis investigation. We can also perform testing and analysis at UDRI on campus as needed.

Our customers include the Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, the Department of Defense, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and many companies within the aerospace community.  Over 100 Failure Analysis Evaluation Reports have been authored by UDRI in the past 8 years.
