Sealants and Elastomers Laboratory
The Sealants and Elastomers Laboratory is equipped to perform both routine and specialized evaluations of elastomeric and sealant materials.
This laboratory is registered to ISO 9001:2000 and is accredited to ISO 17025.
Testing can also include exposure to extreme temperatures (-65°F to 1000°F), environmental conditions (humidity, UV, weathering), and harsh fluids (fuel, lubricants, de-icers).
Determinations of hardness, specific gravity, tensile strength and ultimate elongation, modulus, compression set, and peel strength of elastomeric materials are routinely accomplished.
Using specialized test equipment, we can determine low temperature retraction, low temperature flexibility, hydrolytic stability, fuel and fluid resistance, and dynamic endurance of your material.
Here is a selection of the equipment we use in sealant and elastomer evaluation:
- Sealant mixers of various sizes
- QUV(TM) Accelerated Weathering Tester
- Weatherometer, ovens, programmable environmental temperature cabinet, and humidity chambers for artificial aging of materials
- O-ring fluid exposure block heater
- Balances, hardness testers, and friction and wear test machine
- Video extensometer
- Tensile test machines with 400 lb. and 1000 lb. load cells
- MTS(TM) tensile test machines (1000 lbs.) with ovens for low/high temperature capability
- Low temperature flexibility tester
- Low temperature retraction tester (TR-10)
- Stress relaxometers
- Two Parker-Hannifin(TM) rod seal testers
- Electrical property test equipment
- Hand-held thickness gauges, calipers, specimen dies and specialized test fixtures for dimensional measurements, specimen preparation, and testing.
