The Advanced Ceramics and Glasses group engages in materials development, materials fabrication and life prediction, analytical modeling, and testing of brittle materials. We can analyze materials in different temperatures and environments for strength, fracture, fatigue, and creep behavior.
Our current work includes studies of ceramics, metal and ceramic matrix composites, carbon-carbon composites, optical ceramics, thermal barrier coatings, optical coatings, and glass compositional studies. The group is a nationally-known leader in the mechanical characterization of high-temperature structural ceramics.
