Structure and Component Characterization Group

The mission of the Structure and Component Characterization group is to help customers design and produce products which simultaneously satisfy performance, durability, and cost criteria. This is accomplished by using state-of-the-art experimental techniques, including full-scale durability and performance tests. We also design and fabricate specialized equipment to quantify key product characteristics and develop innovative methods to validate the quality of new processes. The capabilities of the group have developed around three core competencies: component performance characterization, structural dynamics, and measurement and system engineering. Our full-time staff is experienced in applying technology to solve problems in unique customer-specific situations. Projects often include an integrated approach, encompassing multiple disciplines with support provided by other UDRI or UD groups.
