Prior to joining the University of Dayton, Don was a senior engineer at Magnequench International, Inc. and project engineer at several US magnet producers, including Arnold Engineering and SPS Technologies, Inc.
Don joined the Magnetics laboratory in 2002. He has been working closely with John Stanley Hilton, Scott Bauser, Ashil Higgins, and Dr. Sam Liu to successfully develop bulk anisotropic nanocomposite Nd2Fe14B/a-Fe magnets which achieved (BH)max = 35 MGOe in 2003 and (BH)max = 50 MGOe in 2004.
