Brian Rice's core research focus is to push the technology envelope to develop revolutionary new multifunctional polymer-based materials using a variety of commercially available nanoparticles. Brian joined the Research Institute in 1986 as a research engineer in composites, working on-site at the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, OH. He later served as the group leader for the composites group, managing over $20 million in related research before forming a new group to commercialize polymer nanocomposites.
