Center for Basic and Applied Polymer Research
Established in 1978, the Center for Basic and Applied Polymer Research comprises professionals with expertise in polymer engineering and science and laboratories equipped for carrying out a diverse range of polymer studies. The Center coordinates activities on research, development, and technical service projects, and finds practical, customized solutions for problems posed by customers. Activities in the Center include:
- Conducting research on all aspects of polymer science and engineering, including plastics, adhesives, elastomers, composites, and nano-scale materials.
- Helping industries and government agencies solve a variety of mission-oriented problems in the areas of polymer production, product design, characterization, and processing.
- Teaching polymer science through the University's graduate materials engineering program, seminars, symposia, and short courses.
- Working with other organizations and individuals in many ways, from consulting and conducting analyses on a purchase order basis, to partnering on SBIR/STTR programs, to taking the lead on large contracts.
