Structural Failure Analysis

We perform quick-reaction structural failure analysis and material characterization of metallic, composite, and nonmetallic materials. We also review manufacturing procedures and processes, the results of related failure analyses, materials selection, and design specifications.

Our Structural Failure Analysis group works on-site in the Materials Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), providing failure analysis support since 1968. In the Structural Failure Analysis Laboratory at WPAFB, all of the equipment required to support a thorough failure analysis investigation is available. We can also perform testing and analysis at UDRI on campus as needed.

Our customers include the Air Force, the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and many companies within the aerospace industry. Over 50 Evaluation Reports have been authored by UDRI engineers and support has been provided to more than 300 investigations over the past 7 years.
