Phased Array Ultrasonics
The IMMC-Systems Development group has seven years of experience in the implementation of phased array ultrasonics into aerospace inspection applications. Our particular areas of expertise in phased array ultrasonics include:
- Implementation of phased array inspections into existing conventional, single element immersion inspections.
- Automation of phased array inspection data acquisition and image processing.
- Customized phased array training for aerospace inspection applications.
- Development of transducer specifications, alignment and calibration processes.
- Workshops for advanced topics in phased array ultrasonics, probability of detection and inspection automation.
- Phased array modeling and experimental validation.
As a nationally recognized leader in the application and automation of phased array ultrasonics, UDRI continues to provide innovative and cost effective solutions to challenging inspection applications. We identify the inspection requirements, define the most cost-effective inspection approaches, identify sources of variability and develop an inspection process that is robust and reliable. Our goal is to provide a cutting edge research capability with a focus on industrial, production implementation.
Phased Array Training
Customized hands-on training can be provided on a two-day or five-day basis. Two-day training session topics include: basic phased array theory, transducer selection, immersion inspection techniques. Five-day training includes advanced inspection applications including non-planar inspection surfaces, focal law modeling, and inspection automation. All training will be coordinated with the participants to insure that the syllabus reflects the application and needs of the organization.

Inspection Development
All aspects of inspection implementation will be addressed, from defining the inspection requirements and determining the most cost-effective and robust approach, to implementation of inspection automation, display of inspection results and determining probability of detection.
