P-Frame Decimation Encoding Technology (P-DET) (436)

P-DET is a unique method for compressing video streams, both live and recorded, that allows for adjustment of bandwidth management to control quality across any bitrate. This technology is compatible with any existing MPEG decoder. The encoding process uses a patented algorithm to process the video, providing full flexibility in the bitrate, framerate (Hz), and compression rate.

Applications

  • Video surveillance for security systems, including outdoor wide area coverage, indoor narrow area coverage, and streaming video (Webcams)
  • Studio and live remotes for broadcasters
  • DVD mastering for video production houses
  • Streaming video for Internet & IPTV (e.g. YouTube, Google Video, Metacafe, iFilm) and mobile phones
  • On-demand programming for cable service providers

Benefits

  • Reduced bandwidth utilization in real-time and streaming broadcasts
  • Improved video quality while maintaining or reducing bandwidth with decimation functionality:
    • Makes the video better at the same data rate
    • Makes the bandwidth smaller at the same quality
    • Makes quality better even at reduced bandwidth

Compatibility

The system is backwards-compatible with all modern MPEG compression systems:

  • MPEG-1 and (H.261)
  • MPEG-2 and (H.263)
  • MPEG-4 and (H.264)
