The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is a unique organization. It is operated like a business, even though we are part of a university. The 370 people who comprise UDRI depend upon sponsored research for their living: if the sponsors go away, so do our jobs. This makes us very customer focused. UDRI people know how to work to a budget, understand schedule requirements, and take pride in delivering quality solutions and products to our customers.

We specialize in the discovery, development and commercialization of technology.  Our reputation in the federal government R&D arena is well known. In fact, we are the number one university in the State of Ohio for Department of Defense basic and applied research and development activities. We also have the distinction of being the second largest university in the State of Ohio in non-medical related research expenditures. In addition, UDRI is above the national average for colleges and universities in research sponsored by industry.
