Our diverse research capabilities  are focused on developing and applying technology for customers in areas such as materials, structures, energy, propulsion, manufacturing, sensors and intelligence.  Our materials research capability alone is the second largest in the nation among universities, and our engineering research capability ranks within the top twenty.  As a division of the University of Dayton , the Research Institute provides unique opportunities for our customers to work directly with students under arrangements that allow them to develop their future workforce.
