Helping customers achieve research and development goals and solve their challenging technological problems has been the focus of the University of Dayton Research Institute since its inception more than 50 years ago.
Our full-time staff of more than 425 view themselves as partners in our customers’ success, which allows us to combine creative research expertise with a strong customer focus and an impeccable attention to schedules, budgets, intellectual property rights and quality deliverables.
Our diverse research capabilities  are focused on developing and applying technology for customers in areas such as materials, structures, energy, propulsion, manufacturing, sensors and intelligence.  Our materials research capability alone is the second largest in the nation among universities, and our engineering research capability ranks within the top twenty.  As a division of the University of Dayton , the Research Institute provides unique opportunities for our customers to work directly with students under arrangements that allow them to develop their future workforce.
